Clean Air Fund is looking for an Analyst to join our team in Johannesburg. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to work tackling one of the world's most significant environmental and public health challenges.

Supporting both the South Africa country office and the Breathe Cities Johannesburg portfolio, you will help design, manage and monitor programmes, partnerships and grants that contribute to cleaner air and healthier communities. You'll work across a range of projects, collaborating with colleagues, partners and stakeholders to support the delivery of Clean Air Fund's mission.

About the role

The Analyst plays an important role in supporting Clean Air Fund's work in South Africa. Working across programmes, partnerships and grants, you will help coordinate and deliver a wide range of initiatives and projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the design, management and monitoring of philanthropic programmes and initiatives.
• Managing and coordinating grants and grant-related processes.
• Building and maintaining relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
• Supporting communications and engagement activities across relevant programmes.
• Contributing to strategy development within your main area of work.
• Coordinating projects and workstreams across multiple teams in a matrix environment.
• Monitoring progress, preparing reports and ensuring colleagues are kept informed of key developments.

This role supports both the South Africa country office and the Breathe Cities Johannesburg portfolio. You will work across multiple teams, managing grants and contributing to a diverse range of projects and partnerships. Success in this role will require strong organisational skills, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who brings a combination of project management experience, strong relationship-building skills and a genuine interest in environmental and public health issues.

Essential experience and skills

• Experience managing projects within an international non-governmental organisation, philanthropic organisation or related sector in South Africa or elsewhere in Africa.
• Experience working on environmental, public health and/or air quality issues.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across a range of sectors.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Experience working across different cultural and socio-economic contexts, adapting approaches appropriately and working with cultural sensitivity.
• Strong communication skills, including report writing, grant management, minute-taking, presentations and stakeholder engagement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools, including Teams and SharePoint, alongside a good understanding of cyber security and data protection practices.
